How Normal Can Self-Awareness Be

I realized that Self-awareness is the most unassuming state of experience. There is nothing as effortless to experience. Being so simple it is able to be the most pervasive experience and I find it absolutely everywhere. Everybody has Self-awareness, there simply is no life without it, they just do not fully realize it. Self-realization turns out to be a knowingness, a cosmic package of understanding that expresses uniquely for everyone throughout the whole range of individual awareness.

My own initial experience of inner-wakefulness was like everybody’s—so quiet and normal that I hardly accepted it as anything at all. When It became more obvious by having a touch of bliss, a shimmer, a movement or a bit of comprehension, my first thought was, this is great but who is having this experience? At first glance, it certainly was not anyone I knew well. Over a little time, and growing clarity, along with dawning understanding I came to know that my inner Self as the experiencer of my, so called outer Self and visa-versa. The Self experiencing the Self, means my own self, not a someone else’s out their self. It was not apparent to me at the beginning that it is a personal Self that is having a personal experience within the universal Self. It is all so very simple that we can be forgiven if at first we do not give Unified-awareness its due.

Early on in my development it felt like a like a separate from everything Self—before deep understanding spontaneeously kicked in and gave a sense of unified awareness to any and all of my experience. The sense of separation of Self-awareness from the rest of my life was short lived. If the first stage of realization can be described as quiet and, in the background, then Unified-awareness can be described as even more expanded and even more quiet— but now it is in the foreground and the background as one open, yet solidly known perception.

Understanding or knowingness within Self-Awareness is the unifying link. Over time It became known as one, simple unified experience where even the senses, body and environment were aspects of a unified silence and flow of consciousness.

That which should be the easiest to experience initially turns out to be the most illusive to acknowledge.

Staring me in the face, as it were, my quietly abstract inner life was just too familiar to be seen as anything special or all inclusive. My own Unified-realization started with a little inner shimmer, a little flowing bliss, a little vision and a little understanding. At one point there were enough pieces of temporary intuition and sights and sounds that they all blazed into one light of Unified-awareness. It all developed within a field of Self-aware consciousness and became recognized as one continuity of personal inner to outer clarity. It is the already similar and familiar nature of any and all experience that makes the knowledge transition to realization so natural and easy. But still, it is only a perspective or angle of understanding that sets the inside and the outside apparently apart.

Unified-awareness is simply recognizing that the so-called outside experience of the senses is not separate from the inside experience of Awake-awareness. Understanding rendered the boundary between inside and outside porous and clear. Of course, it has always been porous but inexplicably it is now seen, known or accepted as my normal state.

From here on forth deep comprehension, bliss and all the wonderful qualities of a home in Unified-consciousness have a chance to be appreciated. When I finally realized, in one flash who was having any experience the actual process of experience did not change but the knower’s awake presence within experience changed everything. It is like the conscious knower simply by seeing and being any experience gets paid in profound understanding and quiet bliss at every single point.
