The Environment and Me

BAPS Temple in New Jersey

Obviously, our relationship with nature is vital. We function within the abundance of nature since we have to breath, eat and walk on Earth. The components of nature—fire, earth, water, air, space—and how they combine to nurture human life, are also tied closely to the experience of awakening. I see that the divine and earthly strata of my consciousness arise from nature’s organizational configurations within my consciousness. The physical and heavenly organizations of nature are the driving forces that create our hearts, mind, bodies, societies, worlds and galaxies. All are aligned with our individual awareness. Physical, material life is often called the surface value of consciousness but it is part of one continuum of life; I do not experience a surface separate from any deeper layers of my awareness.

Perceiving the process and spontaneous transformation of universal awareness into our daily experience is the expanded story of all our consciousness. It is the subject of the rise to enlightenment. My physical life began to be known and perceived as part of an overall continuum. Then all the differences became a unity of awareness, wherein even the space between unbounded consciousness, celestial awareness and material existence was recognized as part of that unity.

I see no real differences between pure awareness, its knowledge makeup and the heavenly, personal and cosmic levels of existence. Understanding and experiencing how all these layers of experience are interwoven with each other as one phenomenon is part of the reality of awakened consciousness. The Self-aware human being has a see-through, know-through and hear-through relationship with almighty, cosmic activity. We need to recognize this for it to be a living reality.
